I am a civil engineer.

I measured the distance from the intersection of Marietta and Forsyth Streets to the pencil factory on Forsyth Street.

It is 1,016 feet.

I walked the distance, it took me four and a half minutes.

I measured the distance from the pencil factory to the intersection of Whitehall and Alabama; it is 831 feet.

I walked the distance and it took me 31/2 minutes.

I measured the distance from the pencil factory to the corner of Broad and Hunter; it is 333 feet.

I walked it in a minute and three quarters.

I walked at a fair rate.

CROSS EXAMINATION.

I could have walked it more rapidly and made it in three minutes.

A man would have to walk slower than I walked to take him 6 minutes to go from Marietta and Forsyth to the factory.
